Caregiving can be tough. It is often the love for the care receiver that keeps the caregiver going. However, caregivers are not alone. There are services that exist that provide support to caregivers when a break is occasionally needed. Adult Day Services are one of the services that you can utilize to make care giving a little bit easier.
Adult Day Services, or respite care, have a double purpose of providing a break to the caregiver, but are also a valuable resource for care receivers as well!
Possible benefits to the care receiver:
- Socializing with peers
- Meal and snacks
- Exercise programs
- Health monitoring
- Medication Management
- Break from caregiver
- Activities such crafts, gardening, cooking etc.
Possible benefits to the caregiver:
- Time to self
- Free to attend work
- Break from care receiver
- Catch up on to-do list
- Delay move to a community
