April is Stress Awareness Month. American Family Care describes Stress Awareness Month as, “a time when healthcare professionals from across the country join forces to increase public awareness about not only the causes of stress, but also the treatments for the growing stress epidemic in our country.” Seniors often times find the stress to be too much. Learning to cope with stress can greatly improve your health and relationships with those around you.
Three reasons why Stress Awareness Month is important:

Tips for handling stress:
Exercise: Getting your heart rate up and being active for even 20 minutes a day can reduce stress throughout the entire body
Relax: Find time to do things that you enjoy and activities that calm your mind. Examples include yoga, writing, reading a book or listening to music
Seek fun: Find friends, activities, or events that make you happy and fill you up with happiness
